Many of the anti-China propagandists claim they are defending human rights. Some have credibility because they defend human rights in every country, not just China. Others are overtly focussed only on China and display a hidden agenda.
Amnesty International describes their mission as:

We believe that acting in solidarity and compassion with people everywhere can change our societies for the better.”
